I know we're doing this at a rush, so can we assume that one of us would have thought to get a description of the blighter, or that one of the council might have told us without being asked when we announced we were going to look?
Either way, I'l be working on tracking Slavion through scent. I'll send a lackey to find something Slavion owned, if possible, and start the ritual to summon an elemental.
There are examples (e.g. the medicinal crocodile) or elementals who specialise in one thing. I imagine it is not too far beyond Canon to have something like this:
Dog of the Wood; an elemental created when the death of ancient trees causes minute disruptions in the Dragon Lines. It appears from a distance as an ordinary dog, but closer inspection reveals the fur is made up of the dead leaves and briars from the tree whose grave birthed it.
They are typically kept as pets by Forest Kings but are also prized by the wealthy as hounds to be used in the hunt; partly because of their tracking abilities, partly because of their ability to run through vegetation as though it wasn't there and partly as status symbols.
Although nowhere as effective as hunting as demons, they are used by sorcerers who look to track prey in settings where a demon running around may cause... problems.
Survival: 4 (tracking +1) Wits: 3 WP: 5 or 6? Essence: 3 or 2? Survival excellency
I will bind it to the single task of tracking Slavion for 48 hours and, if I am not with it, reporting his location back to me

You did indeed get a description; Tall, thin, short black hair, prominent cheek bones, pale skin. It's not quite enough to be sure. Azir doesn't see anyone he thinks matches perfectly, but if he's willing to widen the net a little then there's maybe 3 men that could be considered appropriate.
I like the elemental. I guess we can use that. Elementals tend to be way random as far as I can tell. You can find something that is his without too mcuh difficulty, where are you releasing the dog?

Ah, ok, sorry - kinda presumed would have had a description of him from eitehr councillors or Essellee so we knew what we were looking for. My bad.
Re: infection - will have advised staff to just do what they can to ensure people survive the night as I can deal with things on my return.

Ok - just seen BSR's post. Are we talking a group of 3 men with one matching the description or 3 separate groups where one person could match?
LH - should we trail or stop/apprehend?

Shrug. K may have stopped to get a description but if we think he gave specific advice on whether to trail or apprehend we're forgetting that he's temperance 1.
Looks like youll be doing the most efficient thing.

I think the implication was to apprehend - you wanted him back for questioning and possible reassignment to the council.

Then what we'll do (and OOC expecting this to go badly wrong) is endeavour to land some way behind the groups then move to intercept. Will use Natural Solar Conviction Technique [assuming reasonable willpower/personal essence reserves, if not just 2 motes for 1 success on 2nd Pres Ex, using Persuade or Command speciality as appropriate] to get a truthful response to the question, "We have a message from the Auspicious Advisers of Maluka for Master Slavion Ysa - be you he?"
Any target man who tries to run or fight, Ferric and I will endeavour to render unconscious.

The various groups look terrified as the blazing solars land from atop their giant wasp, though all are smart enough not to run. All the responses to the question are negative and indeed, though they resemble the description given, you would have expected them to fit the description a little more accurately if they were the genuine article.

Meh, it's the efficient way of doing things - Azir's still too buried in icy flint to bother with subtlety at this point. We'll carry on the search pattern, expanding the radius for as long as it's feasible for the wasp to still have energy to return us to the city and then report back to Kairos.

Sorry I haven't been posting - been away all weekend at my parents, where they only have dial-up which takes about 5 minutes to load a page. All sounds good to me, I like using my wasp.

no problem once you get a little further from the city you can see that there is almost no traffic on the roads. the very open terrain of Maluka means you can see a long way, the only travelling figures appear to be military messengers on horseback. there are several heading outward in all directions. if one of them were Slavion it would be impossible to tell.

Okay, once it becomes no longer feasible to carry on, we'll return and report this to Kairos saying that the tracking elemental may be the best remaining option. However there are two other avenues it might be best to close:
1. He may be trying to get to the closest/largest force of Malukan soldiers outside of the city since they probably won't be aware of what's going on yet and he may be able to use them for his own ends; 2. The nation appears to have a pact of protection with Lookshy, he may be aiming to call upon that pact...

Since you are techincally a force from Tredemin you wouldn't satisfy the conditions of such a pact (they're hugely common in the kingdoms), they're in place to prevent an external force conquering large parts of the river province by swallowing little pieces at a time.

Is it time to track yet? (The ritual takes 4 hours)
What happens?
