Seemed like a cool place to start discussing JD's upcoming campaign.
Who's in and what are they playing?
I'm looking at a halfling sorceror, but i'm also considering a human favoured soul (depending what party make up is and DM approval).

Please could I register a "Fuck Yeah"? Thanks.
I'm thinking monk at the moment. Or possibly a Ninja / Ninja. (Base class / prestige class. Oh, baby.) One of the sensible races, i.e. Human or Elf.
JD gave me permission* to veto the fuck out of Favoured Soul. Sorry dude, DM has spoken.
* Ok, that's a lie. But... *rolls* ... you're going to have to beat 29 on your Sense Motive check to spot that.

No, it's ok, because BSR is only being a favoured soul to 'test that it is broken'. And science thanks you for putting aside your traditional anti-munchkin urges just this once.
As a D'n'D newbie, I call The Tank. One dwarf barbarian/fighter, please.

I don't remember favoured soul being broken, but I'll take a look at the complete divine and see, for now it's ok. So far, we have: John: Dwarven Barbarian Bryn: Halfling Rogue Nick: Sensible Raced (Human!) Monk Jen: Wood Gnome Rogue/Illusionist Luke: (Human) Bard Amber: Half-Elven Ranger Dom: Some kind of Divine Caster We's lacking a divine caster, and without a healer, you guys will *die*. I don't mind NPCing one, but it might make combats take even longer, as there would have to be even more/tougher monsters and an extra character, so I'd suggest one of you guys gets priestly... favoured soul could work. But no sun gods. Ideally, you guys want: Tank Arcane Caster Divine Caster Skill Class and backups for all those. Clerics work well as Divine Casters/Backup Tanks, bards are backup Arcane Casters and Skill Classers in themselves. Party balance ain't that important with 6 players, but you should have at least one of each of those. Incidentally, the first area involves a fiendish wererat sorcerer. Kick ass

I'll divine caster up if needed. Hopefully with favoured soul, though possibly with a druid.
Why no sun gods? I love pelor.

The setting is pretty much any fantasy setting you want, it won't be important where you're going... if you are going to bother with backstory (and it's not a requirement, making stuff up on the spot can be fun too) then feel free to make up whole continents/races/modes of transportation/iguanas to suit what you want. They can contradict themselves and the backstories of other players (should anyone write them) which will lead to fun arguments in the dungeon... 7 players might be a bit much, but it's D&D, it should be ok. And no Favoured Souls of Pelor because a I play enough games that contain chosen of the sun. For rules, check out www.d20srd.org/. As d20 is open license, anyone can look at the core rules. Which is good. Everything you need to make a character is there. BSR also has oodles of expansions and add-ons that I'm sure he'll let people have a gander at once we're up and running for prestige classes and the like. As for dates, not sure. Would like to start soon, I know the dates I'm free, so now all we require is the delicate synchronisation of 7 other (probably very busy) people. Sigh.

If we're inventing setting that's fine, cos i can just write my own god, pelor is just the best in the complete divine list. i think favoured soul is powerful, but i don't believe it's broken in the same way as warlock. will be happy to switch if i am proved wrong. am happy to provide books and info to anyone. would be good to have some discussion on party make up to try and get something reasonably balanced. with a party of 7 what do we want? i have so many character concepts floating around i may just wait to see what everyone else plays and then decide. of course, dom, we could invent say a moon goddess, of justice perhaps, and play two divine casters affiliated to her?

Monk = a bit of a halfway house between a skill class and a reasonable fighting class, I guess.

Monk is good, has kickass perks at high levels and some crazy feats knocking about somewhere (you can build so that you get 2 attacks of op anytime someone attacks you, and another 2 if they hit)... they're called Karmic Strike, Dual Strike and another one. Just make sure you go human. You'll need the feat and the extra skill point is super-handy. As Exalted Modern and Star Wars dates are (almost?) set would it be possible to do a little bit of character creation/discussion on those dates, with a view to starting in August sometime? I know Exalted Modern was going to be a bit of a mammoth session so we can leave it out on that day. Thinking about it, most could be done on here. I'll keep editing the above post detailing what people want to play and that way we could have it sorted by the time a first session comes around. I think I've told BSR and LH but I should mention here that it's a 40 point buy, which I'll explain: You have six core stats, called abilities - Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma. Each of these starts with a score of 8. You can use points to buy them up to scores not exceeding 18. Between scores of 9 and 14, points buy up on a 1 for 1 basis. For example, to buy a score of 11 would cost 3 points. For scores of 15 and 16, points buy up on a 2 for 1 basis. For example, to buy a score of 15 would cost 8 points (6 to buy to 14, then another 2 for 15). For scores of 17 and 18, points buy up on a 3 for 1 basis. For example, to buy a score of 18 would cost 16 points (6 to buy to 14, then another 4 for 15 and 16, then 6 for 17 and 18). For what abilities do and the rest of the rules for character creation look at www.d20srd.org/That was a longer post than I expected. Never mind.

I am gonna go rogue, i think. be purely skills class-ness. though i should also have some decent damage ability with sneak attackness. especially since i am hoping JD will allow me the racial substitution levels.
SH what's your build looking like? i notice you are down as rogue/illusionist split.
dom can be our divine caster (though i should point out bards actually get healing spells which is pretty awesome).
i am happy to assist anyone on character creation. i have the five main books you will need and also all the books ever in pdf form - am happy to supply those to you JD also.

General confirmation for Bard of some sort (probably standard human).

Yay! Ta luke.
Have modified post above with new confirmed classes for peeps. You have punchyness and skills coming out of your ass, but lack a straight up arcane caster. Sigh. Looks like I will be playing Shmendrick the Magician after all.
