i think SH should focus on arcane. as much as i love well rounded characters truly split classes don't work that well in DnD. but i haven't seen her full character concept yet. so i could be mistaken.
i can also switch back to sorceror if needed. but i think a straight up rogue will be useful too. basically i can play anything, i have so many concepts. as for party make up i don't think this is wrong:
3 warrior types 1 arcane 1 divine 1 skill 1 bard
cos the bard can backup all 3 of the guys above him. and also act as party spokesmen.

3 warriors is a bit much for a 7 character party, another split class would be good (though monk would fit the bill well). Also, I don't think bards are going to be able to cast curative spells.

i think it's right for a starting party. as we get to higher levels and people start dying the balance could/should shift. remember that one of the warrior types is a rnager also, so will have some casting ability floating about.
why no curative's for bards? they don't get all of them but i think it's cool they have some of them on their list.

Build? Arcane? What is this jibberish. I am going to start of as Grendil, the tomboyish Wood Gnome who has survived, after running away from her foresty home, through her thievish ways and nimble tongue (yeah baby). I have a roguish cloak, jaunty hat and a cuddly little wolf cub. I'm also a vegetarian. But luckily I am a chosen of the goddess Jibbersnatch whose amulet I wear to cleanse me of the taint of eating meat...so I'm a spiritual vegetarian.
I rescued the wolf cub from a wicked sorcerer, who had slain his mother and was moving on to his brothers and sisters. I'd have saved more of them, but I'd probably have been exploded. I might have eaten him, if he'd had any flesh to him, but instead I stole a cow that I could milk to feed him. By the time the cow died (I was very very hungry) he was old enough to eat little bits of meat. Seeing the sorcerer kill his mother irritated me so I would quite like to learn some sorcery one day so that I can beat up any other wicked magicians I come across. I am very small.
Do I need more to my character than that? I'm not sure by build you meant was I tall or short...

Also, I want a magic razor so I don't have to shave my armpits so frequently - wood gnomes being especially hairy.
Can we play soon? I miss the dice...

lol
I don't understand your post at all, there weren't any numbers whatsoever.
so are you being a gnome rogue then? cos if you are i will go in a different direction.
i getting really confused by these people who aren't optimising their characters. this is DnD guys! character and backstory and stuff are all awesome. but they are for other systems.

How would my character be more optimal? I just do what JD tells me with all the dots. Gnome rogue with a dash of sorcery...

The build would be Rogue/Sorcerer/(Arcane Trickster/other good skill-magic prestige class), for a sneaky magician feel. Basically, a Bard who doesn't sing Or be rubbish. BSR, if you know a ridiculously broken build that can work better then gfi and I'll discuss it with SH...

nahhh, that's a good build, only problem is needing pretty much every attribute. though it seems to me halfling would be better than gnome. rogue's relying so heavily on dex. my build advice would be; 10 18 14 14 12 16 and focus more on the rogue than the sorceror, with primarily rogue helpful spells. of course you could dump stat strength (intending to use a crossbow) and bump something up after that, but with this build you can use thrown weapons to take advantage of halflingness (a 1st level rogue with a TAB of +6, yes please!). check out master thrower for a cool prestige class for more combat based awesomeness for throwing weapons. of course this is quite similar to my intended sorceror build, but i can always revamp. if SH is taking care of skills class (using magic to aid that) then we're still light an arcane and a divine. which is where me and MA come in.

SH's build so far involves her being able to cast 8th level spells by lvl 20, so primary arcane casting class might not be required, so BSR, if you want to go straight rogue, gfi. If a straight up caster is needed, I'll introduce one. Also, kaufman.
With 7 players co-ordinating sessions (which we've already seen to be a bitch) will be a bitch. Thus I move sometime in late August (after the 25th) should be when we start. I can put this in the 'org and admin' board if need be, but hey, we already have a thread here.
No healing for bards because I don't like the flavour. Sure they're a walking 'i can do what all the other classes can but just not as good' toolkit, but healing is for divine casters and divine casters *only*. Some kind of divine bard prestige class might be allowable (perhaps Focluchan Lyricist or whatever it's called, but how would you pick that up in the dungeon?) but only then would you get divine spells.
Oh, and one final thing, re: session organisation bitchdom. Many of us are already committed to other games and finding it hard to organise them. This game will be easy for people to drop in and out of in a 'character's not there/won't die' stylee, so as long as I can get a minimum of 4 people for a session I will run anyway, the missers-out be damned. Though of course having seven players would be fun. And whoever's playing the divine caster might get everyone else killed if they don't show...

s'all good. i have revalued the kaufmanosity of my posts.
i've got a rogue build i am dying to try, as well as my favoured soul - but i think i will play the favoured soul. my DnD expert friends concur with me that it is not broken. so yay!
i'll write up a god(dess) as well, probably something with a moon theme, and a GC alignment. i'll see what MA, wants to do also, might try and persuade him to divine up with me, cos i don't think having two wossnames would be a bad thing.
