Ok guys, if somone has specific models post here and i'll update above. the second post can contain numbers for the types that we won't know in advance how many we will need. i imagine the top three types will be most popular. some may want a zombie or a goblin perhaps.
apologies to JD - i need the boards to match the way i think.

None needed dude, databases rule! I reckon you can happily delete the 'Models' thread if you like.

looks like what we need then is:
a few of the rarer models. plus amazons, chaos dwarfs, high elves and pro elves. i imagine if other people chip in some human and orc lineman from the blood bowl box then we'd be set with those guys.
JD has some skaven lineman, but i wouldn't be surprised if we needed more than the two of us have...

I don't mind knocking in some money to buy some models. I'm happy to buy a couple of teams.
If we're doing an order from GW, we might also need some extra bases. Paint stripper tends to melt plastics.

people ordering models would certainly be appreciated. as well as people ordering painting supplies. i haven't made a table for that cos i don't even know what's needed. i am glad we have someone of your experience around. i think i have some spare bases, but i'd imagine they are pretty cheap and wouldn't hurt to have more just in case.
as noted above, we technically have a treeman and an ogre, but it might be worth getting new ones as i can't vouce for the state of these models.
we also should think about getting boxes for the teams similar to the one MLA has. not sure where might be best for those...
once we have all these accounted for we can find a date for the draft.

I'm going back to see my parents this weekend so I'll probably bring back some of my painting/modeling equipment with me. I haven't painted in a couple of years though, so I don't know how many of the paints will have dried up.
I've probably got enough for the majority of colours. All we should need are the popular colours (black, white, flesh, green), some black undercoating spray and some paintbrushes.

I also have paints in a reasonable variety of colours. Extra brushes will definitely be needed if several people are going to be painting.

Cool can someone else sort that out please? My ignorance prevents me from being effective. I may still have some black undercoating spray somewhere. wonder if it's still working....
do you guys have any views on black vs white undercoating?

Always white. It's damn near impossible to stop black from showing through the overlying coloured paint.
I have one can of white undercoat, barely used.
Incidentally, I also have a can of matte varnish for finishing, though I am not convinced of its suitability yet (I have only used once and it came out unevenly and discoloured the miniature in question - but might be worth trying out on a couple of expendable miniatures as I did wonder whether this was simply the first little bit of varnish being defective or something - no idea if this is right or not).

PS perhaps Aaron and I can stocktake our paints then agree what needs buying. Either of us could then buy what's needed, I don't mind doing it.

that is probably a good plan. i'm sure others would be willing to contribute too. i'm not sure i'm gonna spend any more for now. i already own and unhealthy number of blood bowl minis.

Haha, I'm definitely from the black undercoat school of thought. It gives you an instant layer of shading for dark colours, which makes painting models a lot faster. I prefer the darker look of the models once they're done too. I'm happy to go with white if people want to go that route but I'm lazy and generally prefer black. If we really want to get serious, we could spray mostly armour/fur models black and mostly flesh/bone/etc models white. On the subject of matte varnish, I assume this is GW matte varnish? I've had some VERY bad experiences with it myself. There's nothing worse than painting a model only for the varnish to ruin it. I found that it came up all cloudy and rough. I prefer spraying with their gloss varnish and then using a magic dull spray over the top (I think I've got some but I'm not sure if it's enough for 100 models). Perhaps I should create a painting thread?

yeah go for it.
i think deciding on undercoat colour based on likely final painting colour makes sense. i'd be surprised if tragedy didn't work with black undercoat when playing in black.
