The Hate Machine will follow the black undercoat scheme, as it's more evil. If we want the models undercoated by the draft, however, I'm easy with what others decide.

I can see the "free shading" argument, but I've always found that the black spoils the main colour blocks, which is is a deal-breaker for me. Plus even where the main colour is black I find that it makes the little details come out badly (e.g. (your) face), as with my death company, who were black with red detail work - the red just ended up looking awful. But hey, I have enough white for as many as want it, and we can always buy black given there seems to be demand for it.
Varnish: well I guess that confirms it isn't just me. I've heard others use the gloss with a final layer of matte - but I haven't heard of this magic dull spray, where do you get that? Anyways, if we can source some, let's use it.

meh, happy to bow to greater wisdom. i absolutely refuse to paint - as i hate it and i'm awful. i will do some spraying if needed, but holding a paint brush is beyond me.

Anyways, if we can source some, let's use it. It's something called Testors Dull Cote. Spray it over a gloss varnish and it takes all of the shine off. Makes the model virtually indestructible too.

I can contribute some High Elves (half-painted) if it can wait until I next visit parents - but that won't be for a little while, I'm afraid.
FWIW I would definitely recommend varying undercoat depending on eventual painting scheme. Bright colours look best on a white undercoat, dark ones on a black one. Bright trim on a black base should be re-undercoated with white before painting. It's a faff, yes, but it really really works - my Orc team were very proud of their strip. Well, the one or two that I actually bothered to do.
And last time I knew, even GW recommended not using their matte varnish except over a layer of gloss.

well we shall invite you along to the painting day then. should be fun regardless of the fact you don't have a team. i hope.
think it might be best not to wait for BR's models, also seems a bit mean to make him contribute models when he doesn't have a team...

Well, I don't really mind - it's not like I'll be using them any other time but yeah, I can see that the wait might be a show-stopper. I'll let you know if they're likely to become available at any point, and we can decide whether they'll be useful or not. Painting day - yay! I might bring my Orcs along too

If Nick is contributing High Elves, I don't mind buy the Amazon team (I already have painted Chaos Dwarfs and Pro Elfs teams) and one of the big guys needed.
Let me know which one.

do you want to contribute your chaos dwarves and pro elves to the league? or would you rather keep them?
as for which big guy, no one else has called anything so just pick one.

Well, I need to check my collection to see what's intact, but from memory I have wood elves and chaos teams (both the most recent versions), plus plastic humans and orcs from the box set, plus some much older models from when the pitch was made of polystyrene, which include dwarves, elves, orcs and humans.
Am prepared to contribute to buying any other models we might need.
By the way - maybe this is something to include in future Krushes, but I'd quite like to see such things as daemons, fanatics etc included, as I think they're fun. I have various interesting models which could be used for these purposes.

If it's OK, I'd rather keep them. I play quite a lot of Blood Bowl down our games club so I need a team or two seperate from the league. It's just sod's law that the only two teams I do have are in demand.
They're also painted/varnished so stripping them would be problematic.
I'll order the minotaur if that's OK.

BSR, put me down to provide a Pro Elf team then, and I'll try and dig out those Skav Linerats.

ok cool. will assign aaron to amazons and minotaur and jd to pro elves.
i think any non-standard players will have to be very carefully considered, though their is currently a way to get a fanatic - you have to roll to acquire a special weapon.
