Um, okay this is prob a bit sad but am bored and don't want to have to write a bank letter At time of writing, total post count on the front page (forum statistics) lists 2,219 posts. But if you total up the post counts per person under the Members link, you get 3738 - a significant difference I think you'll agree. Any reason for this discrepancy? The only thing I can think of is if the individual totals count modified posts as well.

I would suspect - though I don't know - that it's to do with deleted posts. If somone delete's their post, their post count doesn't change, but i assume the forum count does.
The whole of the Exalted Modern boards were deleted when we dropped off from that campaign. So it probably left people's individual post counts whilst reducing the boards total post count.
Also, I love that you worked this out. Then told us all.

I secretly think BSR makes posts and then deletes them, in order to maintain his high post count.
It could be the modified thing; it could be that there are several hidden boards from old campaigns, whose contents aren't being counted.

I don't. But the more you suggest it the more I am tempted.
Also there is a way to check. You can search the posts of a user, as long as you increase the max results to allow all of them, it'll tell you how many posts of theirs are on the board.

Also, I love that you worked this out. Then told us all. People have a right to know! Actually, it was even sadder than that... having pondered your comments about being a post-whore, I was trying to work out what percentage of the forum content was down to you (and LH & BR as top 3 posters). But when the total for the three of you came out at 102% I starting to suspect something was amiss... ;D

102%? That is so awesome.
I think you'd have to work it out as a percentage of the total posts by adding up the user counts.
Speaking of being a post whore, 900 posts! Woo hoo!

Alternatively, the subtraction method might be accurate for the total post count that the forum is recording On the assumption that folk with lower posting totals are more accurately recorded (for whatever of the reasons given is correct, the degree of error is likely to be lower), if we take out the contributions of anyone with a post count <100 and who joined say from Sep 07, then what's left is the sum contribution of BSR + BR + LH + JD + Olaf(?). Admittedly though this is not very useful other than as an academic exercise... Re 900: Yes, well. Well done, I suppose

Okay, using the subtraction method, we find that 6 persons contributed 81% of content - which isn't particularly surprising (or helpful) really.
On individual post counts of the (real) total, we get 3 persons providing 61% of content: BSR = 24.0% LH = 22.0% BR = 14.8%
Okay, back to letter writing...

awww man. now i have to get to 25%. damn you for revealing these statistics to me. must not post and delete. must not post and delete. in other news i just modified this post a whole bunch of times, but my post count is only 901. so i think we can disregard that theory. also notice how i modified this post to say that. i could have posted again. i think it was restrained.
