I'm really not sure about this order either, but there has to be an element of guesswork. I think the worst that can happen here is that someone is ranked significantly better/worse than their skill level, and end up getting a permanent (dis)advantage as a result, at least until their starting squad age, get injured, or die. Subsequent Krushes will partially compensate for this, but not fast enough IMO. So would a possibility be to say that in Krush II, every player gets some kind of free bonus pick and/or penalty based on how far out their true ranking was from their predicted ranking? e.g. say if your ranking is out by 1-2 then nothing happens, if out by 3-4 then you get a free pick (or lose something? not sure how you handle the reverse scenario), and if out by 5+ then you get two free picks, or one really good pick, or something.
Thoughts?

Remember we'll be using a handicapping system in game as well. so difference in team rating will lead to bonus cards in game and extra mvps - this means that the draft is not the only system for maintaining a level playing field.
future drafts will be codified by player type meaning the two worst finishers will get an extra big guy (probably - they're not obligated to take the big guy) and the two best finishers will likely end up with a common player when the other teams get an uncommon player. which is pretty similar to what you're talking about really....

Everyone is going to get one big guy and a couple of very decent players. I don't think that a couple of positions in the krush is going to make much difference.

yeah, they idea is that players are pretty similar within each round as well. which should lessen the impact of differences in the draft order.

Everyone is going to get one big guy and a couple of very decent players. I don't think that a couple of positions in the krush is going to make much difference. Which is why I've suggested 1-2 places should make no difference. But in the unlikely event that the number 1 seed came last (or vice versa) we might see a more significant lack of balance. I take your point re in-season handicaps, BSR - but the final result of the league will presumably reflect those handicaps having been awarded, so if the number 1 seed were to do badly despite that, it would suggest the handicap system is not working. Still, I am looking forward to getting extra cards and cash. Maybe those with the early picks will deliberately pick cheap players to avoid being at a card disadvantage? I guess that is probably too much to hope for.

i think everything the league is doing should be under more or less permanent review. if we feel something isn't working then we can make adjustments. for now i think this is going to work ok, so we should just see how it goes.
