Sure, but what exactly are the groups needs? I figured we were getting what we needed done done in the Creation group...

Yeah, I don't think we experienced too many problems in the Yu-Shan session, did we?
But if ppl really think it's necessary then I'm happy to try and re-jig a bit. Mist really ought to have more than minimal Bureaucracy. That said, I'm not sure where I'd take points from...

I think the feeling was that more bureaucracy was needed in general. Plus possibly more investigation for the earth bound group as well as more lore/occult knowledge. though actually both sessions did go pretty well.
one of the issues is that LH is not entirely happy with his character as he feels it is very similar to Kairos.
one of the proposed tweaks we talked about last night is swapping me into the creation group and SH into the Yu-Shan group. another is one of the yu shan group finding a way to take a little more bureaucracy.
and possibly me, JD, and LH shuffling concepts and castes a bit so we actually make a good team with out too much overlap and so that we end up with a concept everyone is happy playing.

I don't think it's necessary to rejig for more Bureaucracy. Where there any charms *cough* we could have used? Otherwise, the 2nd Excellency makes up for lack of dots

You're right about 2nd excellency. I think being able to threaten people with having them reassigned to shitty jobs with our awesome paper-fu would be nice. Terminal Sanction as an effective back up (though not great in heaven because questions tend to get asked).

If LH wants to change and you'll be heading for the Creation group BSR, then rejigs will probably have to happen to make us all well rounded (I've already changed to be a sorcerer/researcher/stealther to fill in our gaps, so if you were with us then that'd have to change). Personally, I'm all up for Sorrel being a badass Endings with more asskicking than sense, but that's probably not in the flavour of the game.
If we do plan to move characters between groups regularly group overlap and deficiency are likely to become a problem, aren't they? The only way I could see round it is to have people with similar roles in each group who could be easily switched, but that doesn't seem like the solution we want, right?

Yeah, LH was talking about these issues which prompted the discussion.
there will naturally be some overlap, but what we were aiming for was overlap without redundancy, and filling in holes here and there, this may or may not be possible.
it comes back to a problem me and BR have been aware of for some time - which is that we create parties as individuals, and never have much group planning, which leads to weirdness. this is my attempt to help us deal with the problem by having a group that genuinely complements each other in the right ways, to make our live easier and to make O's life easier.

I think it's going to be extremely difficult to achieve minimal redundancy and yet still have the ability to swap groups without incurring deficiencies. That's just the way it works :-) If we want to be able to swap groups regularly, we need to accept either a lot of redundancy or a lot of deficiency. Or a bit of both. Since severe redundancy is irritating for players and severe deficiency is irritating for everyone, I suggest we accept a bit of both - assuming we really are going to swap groups regularly. For the reasons discussed, though, I'm not sure that makes sense.

Yeah, obviously the grouping makes things trickier. I think the question is what do we want covered in both groups and what are we willing to let slide in one group.
My initial theories on this are that we want some Investigation, Bureaucracy, Stealth and Social Fu in both groups. And can probably allow Techy and Combat to go un replicated between both groups. And possibly have anyone with a bit of combat in creation and anyone without in heaven.

I agree that changing might not make sense, although could we not minimise redundancy by creating 3 types of characters between the 6 of us and having 2 of each type? 1 of each type in each group; that means you can swap between groups with the character that's the same type as you. Sure, it means you can't really play with the 1 other player, but opens up the other 4.
Types could be something like: stealth/investigator, researcher/sorcerer, social-fu- er... er?
I figure you guys already thought of this, but I don't think it would be too hard to implement, and we could still make the characters we wanted, just with definite focuses...
EDIT: Was posting while BSR was posting, so I guess what I said above is a bit redundant. I agree with BSR, though not sure the Creation based guys really need the Bureaucracy.
Also, I'm totally up for having more combat in the Creation group... just 'cause I likes the fightin'. Since me, LH and BSR seem to get a bit more fun from combat, it would make sense if this were the Creation group.

Yeah, that's my thoughts. Though I'm not totally convinced by the types. Plus I don't want to rule out any of you guys as potential rp-buddies. I don't think overlap is too much of a problem, as long as it is not total overlap. So my theory is that we dientify 6~8 areas, and each person covers two in various combinations, or similar. so that we have full flexibilty, with no holes, and no one unhappy with their character.
I reckon Terminal Sanction would be waaaaay useful in creation. but yeah, i reckon me, JD and LH could have fun with combat.

'Tis indeed hella useful. Look forward to figuring some stuff out on Saturday.
PS: I call stealth-combat!
EDIT: Thinking about it, given my post below, I reckon we could discuss it on the boards.

Oops. Just realised we had agreed to do Lunars at ulrich's rather than at three space. which would make it much harder to draw on the input of LH and O. would people be terribly angry if we moved it?
we're still aiming for a start at 2 as well.

Sorry. But this way you get to see LH an O as well - so there are some compensations
