By the time Ferric, Grey Wolf and Kairos arrive back in Tredemin, there is a message waiting for them to head to a rendezvous in Nexus. The trio can only manage one night in the comfort of their own beds before heading into Nexus on an Azure Chariot at dawn the next day, loaded up, as before, with their loot.
They land a few miles outside of the city, next to a carriage driven by a very startled man. A few minutes later, after some judicious use of the charms, that same man is happily driving his old friends and their strange yet somehow entirely normal luggage to their business meeting in Nexus.
From there, it is but a few hours until the six solars reunite. The driver was kind enough to unload all of the artifacts except for one ominously damp bag which Kairos retains in his possession. Then, once greetings are exchanged, and whilst just outside a man who was on his way to his cousin's farm struggles to work out how he ended up in Nexus at dusk, the lawgivers get down to business.
[will edit if GW or MDV point out that they did not come to Nexus. Er... join social combat rolls? It seems like the best way to stop this group discussion becoming a dialogue]

After the initial greetings are complete there is an awkward silence, broken abruptly by a loud squelching sound as Kairos throws his bag on the floor. A hand, still wearing a jade wedding ring, rolls out of the opening.
'Well, we got what we went out there for' he says. 'We decided we couldn't remove the bracers without damaging them. I hope you're not squeamish, Dr Lerayn'
Kairos gestures around at the rest of the artifacts. 'This stuff belonged to my aunt and her family. They won't be needing them anymore. (Although they may have made suitable grave goods). Anyway, don't worry about us hogging them, gentlemen: there's plenty to go around. Although I'd take it as a kindness if you would tell us exactly what we managed to get hold off, Azir?'
He looks around and claps his hands 'So, how'd you guys do?'

Fox coughs the stench of severed limbs out of his nose. His tone is heavily sarcastic as he says,
"Sorry about the dodgy memory, but why exactly were those bracers so important you had to cut a person into pieces for them?"

Azir stares pointedly at Kairos before wandering over to cover the exposed flesh again and save Fox's from further olfactory affrontery. "I'm a doctor, not a debutante; I've seen worse."
[Apologies if this a bit more than is approrpriate]
He studies the bracers momentarily before remarking, "There doesn't appear to be damage to the neural connections from necrosis. A strong acid should strip away the flesh and they'll be ready for implantation. I'm guessing you're rather eager to test them, aren't you Ferric? And I'm sure, Friend Fox, we'll all be happy to benefit from such a labour-saving device as these."
Looking over at the rest of the equipment, Azir considers just how thorough a pruning Kairos' family tree has taken but decides not to comment on it. "It will take me a while to catalogue all this... bounty so I should probably make a start." He pulled out a notepad and quill and settled down in front of the pile of gleaming jade, eyebrow quirked at the presence of yellow jade.

[Since we're technically in long ticks it will take one misc action to catalogue - I have assumed this is the next action you will declare and hence your summary will be ready on tick 11. I will post descriptions in the Equipment thread when I get the chance. The long ticks also mean you don't really need to worry about how much text you post.]

We would have got the bracers another way, but Kairos' family tried to kill us. And if you're unhappy with the way we got them you can forebear from using their fruit. No skin off my nose.

[Ahem... does this work exactly like normal social combat? i.e. can Raiden, who is presumably guarding right now, take an action? Or is that making things too complicated?
Not planning on taking any action just yet, but just curious.]

Looking around at the barely concealed hostility in his allies' eyes Kairos pinches his own.
'Ok. I sounded callous. I'm sorry' He lets himself fall into a chair and looks up at his friends 'Believe it or not, killing my aunt, my uncle and two of my cousins isn't all laughs and giggles for me and it's easier to...' For once, the eclipse is lost for words and settles with a sigh and a shake of his head.
'But' -his eyes become more harsh and settle on Fox- 'since you asked. We didn't kill them for the bracers. We killed them because it was the right thing to do. She was my aunt and she was good to me. To us. I loved her exactly as much as you would expect. But we're talking about somebody who was expelled from my family (not a family of particularly decent folks, incidentally) for torturing people. For fun. We're talking about somebody who had used those bracers, which she stole, to build weapons. And who was using them at the end to build something even more secret and powerful than her previous works. I somehow doubt it was a universal panacea, or anything else for the betterment of the world.
'Yeah I killed her. I killed her because Ferric or Azir can do a lot of good things with those bracers. I killed her because she would have done a lot of bad things with them. I didn't like doing it, and I would have preferred for there to be another way..' Kairos drains his drink '...but there wasn't, and I'd do it again. Without hesitation'

Grey Wolf unfolds his arms. [coming out of the guard action]
'Kairos is right. Some times we must do things we do not wish to do because it is the right cause of action to protect many more people. You must take action when you see bad things taking place or you risk becoming part of what is wrong with the world. Sometimes force must be taken to do this.
I became a general because I was born with a skill - a skill to keep men alive in the heat of battle, more effectively than lesser men can. But that does not mean that men are not lost along the way, or that their loss is not deeply felt. As a soldier, I understand his feelings and believe we should not condemn him so hastily.

"Don't tell me what I should and shouldn't condemn. I condemn acting against the desires of the glorious Unconquered Sun, and I condemn treating people as if they are nothing more than cattle to be slaughtered to feed greedy egos. That was all I could see.
"Kairos, if you'd explained that stuff when you came in I'd have reacted differently. You understand why, so I'm not going to apologise. Grey Wolf, I judge based on what I see, hear and smell, not based on mind-reading, which I can't do - so don't have a go at me about condemning hastily.
"Anyway. If you say she was evil, then fair enough. Either way, I'm scared that we are getting too carried away with our power. The fact that she was evil is reason to kill her, if killing really was the only way. The fact that she had some bracers we can use is not, and I don't like the way you're suggesting that it is. The Unconquered Sun will provide for us if we ask him and if we act in his glory. We can't just take what we want without caring about who suffers - no matter how useful the stuff is. Otherwise why are we any more deserving to rule Creation than the Realm filth?"

[Coming out of guard]
Raiden has been leaning against the doorjamb half in and half out of the room, watching closely. As Fox concludes his question, he speaks up, calmly but with passion.
"I share Fox's concerns. We must act justly if there is to be any point at all to our power. Of course violence can be a necessary tool - but to what end?" he sighs, "Perhaps I have spent too long pursuing my own goals. But I do not yet understand what our purpose is. Why have we done all this? Just going after power, is not enough. Not unless there is something at the end of it."
