Mark is in his kitchen pacing backwards and forwards. Was he a fool to trust Kayley? Is she a monster, or a traitor, or is she just a confused girl that has just been thrust out of hell?
Does she need him? Does he need her? Can he afford to get taken in by her childish little smile, to play the jokey friend, to call her cute names?
FUCK THIS BROKEN WORLD.
Its all going to hell anyway.
Mark wants to help someone. He wants to go out, and be a hero, have someone just remember a dark hero in a dark alley that saved them from harm.
Mark wants to hurt someone. He wants to see someone fall in front of him, and then kick them in the ribs. Then he wants to shout at them, demand that they justify their pathetic existence. He wants them to cry and cry and cry. Then he wants to open their eyes, see the world like it really is, see how little they mean, see that they are just meat for beings hungrier and more powerful than they are. Then...
...well he'll cross that bridge when he comes to it.
He puts on his trench coat, and as he smooths it down it grows longer and darker, covering his movements, hiding in shadows. When he puts the long, thin rubber bullet gun under it, it seems to swallow it entirely, hungrily engulfing it into the darkness. He steps out of the door, and fades from human sight.
