This is about a Live Action Role Play event being run mid september. It will be from friday night to sunday early afternoon. a breif glossery:
CP = curious pastimes. one of the best PvM fest games around in the south of england
LT = lorian trust The biggest but also with that rough around the edges, larp event in the UK.
Fest = takes a w.e usually camping, with 200+ people.
Referee = DM but there are lots of them all on radio running the game
Typhum Will be run by Mandala, a group of ex-referees from C. P. it is a fest game, a lot like LT and Cp, but on the whole smaller. There will be varying styles of event, from diplomatic meetings, to fayres, to pitch battles. Because of this you will be allowed to have multiple characters. There will also be downtime in which research can be done skills can be learnt and friends/enemies can be made. information and rules can be found at www.mandalalrp.co.uk
I intend to take a group to the play test event in september. And I would love at if anyone would be interested in joining me.
Those interested in playing in my group I suggest you read the Tohbaneese background (the massive document about religion is not necessary but still interesting) found on the Mandala site. then read below
Thanks

-----------------------------------------------------
Tohbaneese Elephant - an elephant is slow to rise once moving nothing can stop him.
Like all groups of Tohbaneese men, most of their time is spent luxuriating in their wealth and power. A lavishly adorned tent, full of cushions and beanbags, with a carpet (no shoes allowed) a low table laden with fruits, meat, and wine. Outside or in the corner of the tent is a small table with carefully arranged statues incense and candles as a shrine to the mother and father of all gods. The costume will be a cross between togas, Buddhist robes and (trying to maintain masculinity) saris.
But when there is a call for war it is the duty of all Tohbaneese men to take the field. And none do that as well as the elephant. The might of the Tohbaneese army is epitomised by this group of men. For all their time that is not spent drinking eating and making merry, is spent training for war. The only exception being for war itself. (for combat costume think the the Harad of lotr).
Stats - warriors in the group are expected to spend most of not all of their points on combat skills. And for those that haven't read them I suggest you do as a character and spends four points on combat skills is pretty tasty, let alone a whole group of them. Of course there are other roles to play in the war band. Women cannot play warriors (I didn't write the background) but the potential to play surgeons, magicians, or craftsmen is nigh on endless. Others not wishing to take a front rank all have two choices (and least) they can either play a slave in a similar role to the women. Or they can play a retired member/intellectual. A perfect example of this would be for someone to take three ranks of the sword and be sword trainer.
This was not planned and this idea existed before I saw the film, but someone has commented on my idea is very close to the immortals from the 300. To continue with that any of the other warriors especially things like the giant slave thing could easily be fitted into the group.
