I'd like to start a weekly football match, in the realm of four to six-a-side. Beginning in the summer, with plans to run throughout the year. I suggest that this runs on Sundays in West Ham Park (the park at the end of Bolton Rd). It should also be open to both genders. If people from the other end of London get involved then we could play a proportionate number of fixtures in their manor.

I've drummed up some initial support for this but would like to formalise it. We can mostly organise it on the forum and then use texts to communicate times with people who (a) won't be bothered to log on, or (b) we're not ready to welcome into this den of geekiness.

The rules for joining would be

-poor to mediocre ability
-not likely to take the game too seriously

If we can get about a dozen people then we should be able to run it every week, even if a thrid of people can't make it. Please bring along people we may not know. We did something similar with basketball at university and it was good times for all. Plus I'm sure most of us could do with some sort of proper exercise.

I could, but I'm not the most competant football player (and by that I mean that the last time I played was in year three) so I'd probaby trip over the ball a great deal. I could try once perhaps and if I'm too horrific then surrender to the inevitable and sit on the side providing cool drinks or something:)

SH - don't worry about it; some of the people I'm asking I've seen play before and are of that kind of level.

I propose we make our playing debut on the Sunday 22nd July. Can we get people to confirm for that as well, please?

Didn't BSR say he's busy then? I'll prb not be able to do then, but I'll see how feasible it'd be to take the day off. But I can do the next one if not that'n. And if I really fail I'll buy a set of pompoms and cheerlead in turns for each side. On my own I shall perform death-defying acrobatics and the great christmas tree pyramid. ehem.

And it might be easier for me to gather college-foreign chaps if we ever play out of stratford. But i'm happy nipping across to you.
