Wow, a lot has happened on this threat. BR, are you in a bad mood again? First it was scrap pdp, now its scrap exalted all together! Haha No, I wasn't in a bad mood. It was a cheap shot, really - I've been saying for a while that we play too much Exalted (not that it's bad, but there are loads of other interesting systems), so this was merely a low blow (and not really serious) to reiterate that point I agree entirely with what you say about virtues. In particular... ... I think this is essentially similar to virtue-channelling. (Do you know about that? Basically you can pay a willpower point to add your virtue in dice to any action appropriate to that virtue - a limited number of times per story.) Possibly Fox could use that more to get more benefit out of his Compassion. However, I'm not terribly fussed - I'm happy with the way we're using the mechanics at the moment, i.e. not much.

Yes, I knew about that virtue channelling. My thought was that Compassion needed something extra to make it more appealing, perhaps miscellaneous bonuses for certain social interactions because comp characters are more intune with dealing with people.
The ST would give these bonuses when he felt compassion aided an action and would be in addition to the virtue-channelling.

Like the way temperance has an awesome social defence charm associated with it, and conviction lets you regenerate your willpower. What has compassion got?

Oh! That's an improvement. What about the phoenix integrity doobry charm? The one based on temperance?

Apropos of a tangent, there are also the Virtue-based Celestial Martial Arts given in Imperfect Lotus (web enhancement for all the bits they left out of Scroll of the Monk) including the Art of Victorious Concession a "Compassion-based" style.

Huh. Turns out it's miles away, and irrelevant. (Quoted below for reference.) However, I'm pretty sure we decided to base it on primary virtue, whatever the core book says. Phoenix Renewal TacticAs per the core book description, except that a character can only regenerate a temp. Virtue point as a result of natural WP regeneration if they have full temp. WP - i.e. temp WP regenerates first, then temp Virtue points. Note that when regenerating as a result of a successful stunt, the character can choose which of temp. WP and temp Virtue points to regenerate, as normal for this charm.

Just to confirm with everyone: I have decided to make it official - every character gets one extra point of virtues (still max 4 without freebies). I would encourage everyone to put this towards virtues, but if you spent freebies on virtues at character creation then you could technically take three freebie points instead.
